  1. Hello,

I am new here. So I don't know if I am at the right forum here.
But I saw a new hack for my LG BD570 and downloaded it. Burnt it on a dvd and put it in my player. It updated and I put in a R1 (USA) dvd (I live in the Netherlands, R2) and it didn't work.

What do I have to do to have it region free?
I am now updating it to the latest software update.

I hope anyone can help me out...

    Thanks a lot in advance.

  2. Most of the LG's require a certain firmware to allow the region hack to work. The hack instructions might not be 100% correct. After applying the hack firmware, follow these instructions: http://multi-region.net/lg_5931 This should allow you to select region free for DVD, you then should be able to update your firmware to the latest one from LG and still retain your region free DVD status.

While this probably isn't the problem, it could be. Some region 1 DVDs will not play on region free DVD players and you need to set the region to 1 to play them. This is called RCE.

  4. Thank for your replies.
The hack info you mention is for the 6000series. Is it also possible to use it for my player?
It's always worth a try when it is for my machine.

@jman98: I have already tried after the hack to change region to US but that didn't work unfortunately.

  5. Yes it works on many LG players. Check the hack section for the BD360. It also works on many others including the JVC XV-BP1. Here is a post I wrote regarding this hack and the JVC, but it will be exactly the same for the LG if it works.

  6. thanks again. also for the link to the jvc topic.
I have burnt the folder incl files on a cd-rw, closed the cd after burn, burnt only as iso.
Do I have to return my player to a specific firmware before trying the hack you say or the bd570 hack??

  7. You can try it with either. It won't mess up anything. I would assume it would only work with the special firmware that was posted on this site. I believe newer LG firmwares block the 6000 hack I mentioned above.

  8. So what you suggest in short is:

Try the hack as posted for the bd570 and than the 6000 hack after it?

Or would you suggest anything else.
The 6000 didn't work (I had the most recent updates at that moment).

  9. Yes, I would try the BD570 hack posted first and then the 6000 hack. Please reply with your results.

  10. Ok, I will give that a try.
But yesterday when I only tried the 6000 hack, de LG gave DATA CD en ejected the cd. What did I do wrong with the burning?

I burned it as iso, 9660, not as jolliet and closed the burn.

  11. Name your data cd using capital letters as shown below:

    CODEFREE

  12. I named it CODEFREE and burnt it accordingly.

But LG ejects it with the message "Check Disk".

First I did the lg bd570 hack and second the 6000 hack.

  13. I used the ImgBurn program to make the data cd with the following settings:

    Build mode
    Data Type: MODE1/2048
File System: ISO9660 (made sure filename format is 11 characters, 8.3)
    Volume label: CODEFREE

Also check DAO/SAO (disc at once/session at once) is enabled.

  14. I am trying now burning with IMGBurn.

But your last sentence I couldn't find in the program, about DAO/SAO.
Where can I find that? I've searched all the tabs.

I will post my findings after this one again

  15. Go to the Tools menu, select Settings..., select the Write tab.
On the Page 1 tab, you should see the Write Type option. ImgBurn should have DAO/SAO enabled automatically. If not, change it.

  16. I've done that. Exactly as you mentioned. But the LG gives Data CD en continues to the main screen with the ice cubes menu.

Do you have the same player or an other?

    My software is now:
    Main ver. BD.8.31.186T.C
    Servo ver. H80591 (HO8SAN)

I hope you can something with it....?

  17. I have tested this on a BD370, using the same file ytsejam mentioned. It appears that the region hack may no longer work on the 570.
