Um... Maybe take it back for a new one?
I just bought it this weekend, and I must say that I'm fairly pleased...
It very nicely removed Macrovison from "Independence Day", my test movie I was using which had notoriously strong Macrovison. Just turn it on, Capture, and on the convert just crop a few pixels along the top, bottom and sides (there's just a little "Rainbow" effect going on my VCR on the final capture... crop it off and it looks REALLY good!)
It was definitely a drastic improvement over having the capture program crash due to detection!
Remember that the Coymaster is only for VHS tape to recording machine (whether PC or VCR), doesn't work well for DVD Macrovison source. For that, you'll want to rip directly on the PC.
