I make little intros using blender software.
then use say pinnacle studio to combine everything and put it on a DVD and Bluray DVD.
it is always not very sharp.
when I connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI cable it is sharp enough.
    laptop is kind heavy.
what else can I connect to the TV to get sharp videos?
    Harddrive?
    thanks all

    Samsung 630 series TV

Possibly your source video dimensions are too small >> less than 720*480 for NTSC dvd. So the video gets blown up and is 'fuzzy'

Or. Your dvd player is not upscaling to the tv and then the tv is blowing up the picture.

More info required both about source video BEFORE making the dvd and the dvd-player.

    thanks
    the videos are 1920x1080
it is a modern DVD player. Samsung BD-E5500.
the file can be avi, mpeg2 whatever you like.
I would post one except for the forum limits
The videos from the camera are HD 1920x1080 avi
posted a video with less happening so the file is smaller.
when put on a DVD and then onto the TV can you see the radar going round on the carrier?
    thanks

  4. put thumbdrive into TV's USB , if it has one, 1920x1080 mp4 or mpeg2, or 1280x720 also

  5. DVD is standard definition. So you're reducing the resolution from 1920x1080 to 720x480 for DVD. You will lose sharpness and detail. Put high definition on Blu-ray if you want to retain the sharpness of your source.

Note that you can also use stadard definition video on Blu-ray. Make sure you specified HD, not SD.

And what cables are you using between the Blu-ray player and the TV? If you are using composite video (yellow RCA cable) you will only get SD from the player. You need to use component or HDMI to get HD video. And make sure the player is set up to output HD (because those cables can also carry SD).

  10. As others have said, are you creating SD or HD disks?

You say you are creating a DVD or Bluray DVD. The DVD, if a normally authored DVD Video disk will be SD and won't look as good. What do you mean by a Bluray DVD? Are are you creating a full Bluray disc on Bluray media or an AVCHD Bluray file structure on DVD media? If AVCHD, make sure to set to to create HD video.

Are you creating a fully authored video disk in DVD or Bluray format or just burning the video files as a data disk?

Also, when you play the video from your laptop are you using the disks you have created or the original HD video files?

Are you sure? According to the spec sheet I downloaded from here it'll play video via USB, and page 33 of the manual (not the quick guide) I found further down the page specifies the types of files and video/audio codecs it supports.
AVI, MKV, MP4, WMV etc..... all the usual suspects.... according to the manual.

Then you get some gadget that goes in between your TV's HDMI out and that thumbdrive (or external HDD) like HDMI Intel Stick or some other media player based on some firmware or even Android OS. Those things are very small now and with one of those players you can also play your files directly from your computer if you have a network home.

if you really cannot use TV's USB for video ... , TV's nowadays can play videos like that
