  1. My 5 gig video is only showing 2 seconds. How can I fix this?

Post a full mediainfo (text mode) report.

A remux may fix it. Try avidemux or mp4box.

But if it plays the expected time, I would not worry about it.

By the way, what would I need to do in avidemux to fix this?

Now that shows 4 hrs +. So I guess that is also wrong. *

    Avidemux:

Load Video. Select copy for video and for audio. Select mp4 muxer for output format and save with new filename.

    * If that is correct then just ignore the above.

  5. The correct time for the video should be 04:05:43
When I did what you said with avidemux and it gave me 763 kilobyte file with only 2 seconds of watching time.

Well, like I said, if the time quoted in mediainfo was accurate, and it now appears to be so - give or take a minute or two - , then that remux was not necessary.

It seems that avidemux has also been fooled and only created a 2 sec vid. My guess is that it can not handle the variable frame rate of that video - that could fool any muxer.

Better expand on the previous post.

A remux is not necessary if the mp4 actually plays for 4 hrs.

Mkvtoolnix is more tolerant of problems with source files. If it remuxes the file properly you can always remux back to MP4 with MKV2MP4 if you need MP4.

You could answer the question first.

Does the original mp4 actually play for 4 hours or only two minutes ?

If it only plays for two minutes, try the above suggestions.

    1) push "add source files" button
    2) select the file (navigate to the directory and select it)
    3) push "start muxing" button

    Done!

  14. I did that and it gave me an mkv file that was 763 kilobytes and was 2 seconds.

Can this even be fixed? I was wondering if I should just redownload the video, although it would be an inconvenience to me.

  15. Not what you want to hear, but it's probably damaged

Did you try playing it with VLC ?
EDIT: oops that picture is of VLC's library in the 1st post isn't it ?

Did this video ever work properly before ? Maybe if you download the video again, the same thing will happen ? Maybe it's damaged to begin with ?

  16. Yes, I tried this in VLC, but in VLC it wouldn't even play the video, or load it for that matter. The video never played in full ever, just always only 2 seconds.

  17. Obviously, you should try downloading it again.
