  1. hey whats up?
I while ago i ran into a problem i have never encountered before with an mpeg 1 vcd clip. I wanted to re-convert this from the dat, back to mpeg on my pc (so i can burn it to dvd as part of a complilation).
I used vcdgear and it split the file into 3. I then dechecked this making it do the file as whole.
Seems fine, but after 6mins windows media player would not play the file, trying to edit the clip in tmpg, would not see past its 6min part (the whole file was 43min), virtual dub crashed when reaching this point saying it could not parse the file., etc. I ended up re-encoding but once that was done the pic seemd a little 'shaky".
What happens when i play the disc is about 6mins their was a slight jump in the pic, it looked more like it would be a gltich on the actual vcd itself, but the entire file copied ok from the disc to my pc, and the copied clip the glitch is there.
i just find it odd that it copies ok, yet virtually all of these programs choke on the clip when it reaches 6mins. Is their anyway to fix this problem, i tried some fixers with no luck, or know what the problem maybe? thanks
PS when it split the clip in vcdgear, nothing 'saw" the split files vcdgear made. 99% of the programs told me they were not mpeg files

  2. Hey,
I ran into the same problem 2 days ago. At 30min:26 secs there was a glitch in my pulled VOB's. DVD2AVI would crash at that point. TMPGEnc would freeze at that exact point. I also used MpegUtils to check if maybe it was a multi-angle thing, but it would crash at that same point. I dont really know what the deal was. I re-ripped the VOB files, but this time I ripped it to one BIg file, and not 4 seperate ones. This did the trick, as I was able to burn fine. I dont think this helps, but it seems to be a similar situation. Just thought I'd share.
