  1. I bought a cheap IP Cam (easyN brand). It saves video/audio as avi. The only way I can hear audio is if I use the builtin video player that comes with the software. I have tried every player on the planet and don't hear audio. There is a codec in the program's installation directory called avcodec-54.dll so I'm guessing that's the one it's using. I'll attach screenshots from gSpot.

What can I do to convert this to a format that can be used on a Windows computer?

Gspot is really old (2007). Try MediaInfo and you may get better info about the file and the audio format. I mostly use 'Tree' mode.

    And welcome to our forums.

Looks like they are using a proprietary format. So their software is your only option.

  5. Thanks. There must be some way I can play it and convert it to another format, no? Is there some utility that let's me manually specify a coded (dll) to play the file, and then output in a new format?

Play with the supplied app, while recording audio using "WYHIWYG" input in sound mixer (to a new app, such as Audacity). Then sync up the V+newA in an NLE.
