Hey all, I shot some footage using a gopro (2.7k 30 fps) and rx100 (1080p 60 fps) and trying to figure out the best way to edit using Vegas Pro 12. I'll be doing some colour correcting with Resolve lite. I'd like to use the highest quality possible and will be uploading it to youtube (crappy, I know) and vimeo.
While I'm at it, in the past I converted the rx100 footage (*.mts files) using Cineform to .avi before editing it in Vegas pro. Is that still a good way to do it?
So, from what I've read, most people suggest downgrading the 2.7k to 1080p. I'm going to probably use a stabilizer (Mercalli stabilizer), but then what can/should I use to crop it after that?
If not, how would I upscale the 1080p footage to 2.7k (or 1440p as a compromise of both?)? Avisynth? Video enhancer? Will the upscaled footage look like crap?
Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance, hope to start editing soon!

First concentrate on content.
Work with the native footage if your machine can handle it. (If the machine listed in your profile is still accurate just forget the whole thing.) Use a 1080p/60 project in Vegas. Do your stabilizing with Mercalli in Vegas it will crop as needed. You'll probably need to render and transcode your footage before exporting to resolve. If so, transcode the gopro material with the mercalli baked in. -
Ah yah, different computer but not a super powerful one. I like that I can work with a lo res working quality footage before rendering it out.
Won't Vegas force me to use a 30 fps project since the gopro footage is only 30fps? I know there's some tutorial for how to work with resolve and vegas pro and I believe you're right in that I do have to render it first.
Still, should I be downscaling the 2.7k to 1080p or should I compromise and upscale the 1080 footage to 1440 or something? Both footage have about equal content that I want to use. Thanks -
You can create any kind of project you want in Vegas, it is resolution independent. In your situation I would go with 1080p 60 as I said earlier. Your final output will depend on how you are planning to deliver/view it. That wil also determine your best render settings for Resolve.

i'd stick with a standard 1080p30 project and export it that way. all gopro video is garbage to start with and even 1080p30 output is hard to watch.
