Not a problem for me, but what are the benefits of various video 'containers' like iso, mkv, dvd folders etc??
I prefer iso images, as I (still) use my Argosy player mostly, I have a Dune 303d which I use for 'garbage-boxed' vids. My tv is an old Olevia 42" & dosent "zoom" in the screen like the new ones do, but the Dune does.
( the Argosy does everything the Dune does, with about a third as many buttons on the remote.) (<- same issue with WD live smp, its in its been back in its box a while)
Anyways, I just wondered, , , ,

Packaging mostly. It's not that there are lots of competing formats, it's more a case of there are evolved methods of containerizing various resources. ISO can 'package' all the resources on a DVD. MKV and MP4 can hold more streams (subs, video, audio). Some can hold packed video data (more compressed, hence smaller filesize), these can also manage higher bitrate, so better quality. Nothing to worry about. It can simplify delivery to a targeted device or application.
