How do I convert avi files to files that I can burn to a cd that will play in my home dvd player

all you do is press video cd with nero or win on cd which ever you use and drag your avi over it will encode it for you so it turns it into a playable vcd for in your dvd player

Converting your source files to S/VCD compliant files is probably not a good idea...
