  1. Hello
I am trying to download a video from the website given below using rtmpdump
I tried using rtmpdump Helper but it was in vain

    Pageurl: http://live.rankerslearning.com/demo/viewdemovideos
    RTMPDumphelper gave me this:
    Code:
    RTMP Server 2.4 git-6230845 2011-9-25
    (c) 2010 Andrej Stepanchuk, Howard Chu; license: GPL

    Streaming on rtmp://0.0.0.0:1935

    rtmpdump -r "rtmp://182.18.162.84/VOD" -a "VOD" -f "WIN 18,0,0,160" -W "http://r
    eleases.flowplayer.org/swf/flowplayer-3.2.16.swf" -p "http://live.rankerslearnin
    g.com/demo/viewdemovideos" -y "mp4:DemoHigh_30042015_Eamcet_BOTANY_JANAKIRAM_FAB
    ACEAE_512.mp4" -o mp4_DemoHigh_30042015_Eamcet_BOTANY_JANAKIRAM_FABACEAE_512.flv

    Closing connection... done!

    RTMPDump 2.4 git-6230845 2011-9-25
    (c) 2010 Andrej Stepanchuk, Howard Chu, The Flvstreamer Team; license: GPL
    Connecting ...

Can anyone tell me or suggest me what to use to record those videos? I want to do this through command line so that i can control from other apps

P.S: The video works well when i dont run rtmpdump but it fails to load even in browser when rtmpdump is running

Also if i try rtmpsuck, then it only downloads till the time it is being streamed on the browser if suppose i stop streaming in browser, recording also stops
Also i tried Replay Media Catcher 6 and same problem, need to keep it on

Is this some extra layer of protection?? No way to download videos?

These samples record fine with jaksta (and if they record with this there is no protection). But this is not free.

  3. I just tried that took, but similar problem their. If i like exit the page in firefox or stop video then after few minutes it stops downloading And jaksta too keeps still at that progress. :\

    This is only a guess.

I tried again to download with Jaksta and quickly closed the browser. The download did indeed stop shortly after that. So.......

The guess is that the website polls the connection of the person who is playing the video and continues polling at various times throughout the playback. It is reasonably easy for a website to determine if a browser is present (the test usually performs the browser/version). So if that poll detects no browser present it simply closes down the connection. And the obvious reason for this is to prevent off-site downloading/copying. But it does not appear to prevent copying when the browser is open. Only tested on the samples. Have no interest in the content and can hardly understand what these guys are saying so have not attempted to register. But I suspect you then have to pay anyway. And discussion about downloading of pay-for video is against forum rules.
