Hi -
I recently had video camera tapes turned into MP4 files. Each video tape (total of 22) is made up of multiple clips - anywhere from 10-30 clips per tape. I would like to split these MP4 files into multiple MP4 files based on the variable duration of the source clips. I know how to do this manually and have found many applications that can split based on fixed duration or fixed size of output file. However, I have not been able to find any applications that can do this automatically (e.g., select a single MP4 file, click "split", have application create multiple output MP4 files of varying length).
I searched the VideoHelp fourms and was not able to find this topic.
Thanks for your help.

What kind of camera, what format?
Many NLEs and even simple capture utilities have the ability to split DV and HDV tapes at camera start-stop during capture. Once they've been combined and converted to mp4 you must do it manually.
Some software claims to have scene-change detection. Other than Resolve lite, nothing I would trust or recommend.
edit: posted before you modified your text:
Any decent NLE can do this with re-encoding.
Smart Rendering editors can can do it with minimal re-encoding VideoReDo, TMPGenc Smart Renderer
If your camera start-stops are all on keyframes tools like AivDemux can handle it as well. -

Thanks for the prompt replies.
The source tapes are split 50/50 between MiniDV and Hi8. I still have both video cameras, so I'll have to either re-capture the source tapes with scene-change detection or manually edit the MP4 files.
Take care -
