Hey all,

I have read some of the old threads, and I understand the concept that VHS is dead, and therefore not changing, so most of the old information is still good.

Here's the thing. I have limited money, I have bought a Hauppauge USB-Live 2 (610) for capturing to the computer. I have a decent 4 head RCA VCR, I have an old Ilo DVDHD04 that I can either capture with, or use as a pass-through to try and help with TBC ... at this point in time, I can only afford a single additional piece of equipment to try and boost/improve my video source.

I am considering the DR1000 because, while it is slightly more than I would like to spend, it is still available new, and it sounds from the threads I've read like it does some nice things, fairly easily to help with getting good stuff. (I believe one member referred to it as the Magic Box?)

If I can only afford a single piece of equipment to boost my quality, do y'all think this would be a good choice to go for, or would something else be more highly recommended, at near the same price point? (I've also managed to find a new Sima SCC-2, but the reviews I've found on here indicate it is a weaker product.)
