  1. I am using a phone app called "Slide movies". It is high quality when I edit and create custom mp4 videos.
But when I upload it to facebook, it is lower quality.
How to upload it the same quality?

    I'm not sure you can:

Usually, when you add a video to Facebook, the file needs to be changed into another format. This is video encoding. It can take some time before your video is added to Facebook.

But it doesn't definitely say it's going to be reencoded, no matter what format you upload, as YouTube does. Another page says this:

If you're exporting your video from editing software (ex: Final Cut Pro, Avid, iMovie) we recommend these custom settings:

H.264 video with AAC audio in MOV or MP4 format
An aspect ratio no larger than 1280px wide and divisible by 16px
A frame rate at, or below, 30fps
Stereo audio with a sample rate of 44,100hz

So, if your video doesn't fit those specs you might try again. Maybe someone else knows if Facebook reencodes everything.

The file itself is 23mb with a frame rate of 30 fps and audio of 44,100hz. It is only 40 seconds long. Not sure why it is encoding the mp4 to an inferior quality. It matches all the recommended settings and is not even that large of a file. Why does Facebook make it inferior quality??

I'm not on Facebook so I don't know the answer. If they reencode everything and at lower quality/bitrate, then that would explain it. The content of your videos might also be important. Lots of movement will mean much lower quality when reencoded at a lower bitrate. If they have a forum, you might ask there. Or, as I mentioned earlier, someone familiar with Facebook's video encoding practices might answer.

  5. Yes, Facebook re-encodes everything

  6. Thanks. There you have it, lovingit will never get the same video quality on Facebook from his uploads. How much worse it will be will depend on several factors including the video complexity (how much movement there is).
