  1. Hi Everyone,
Hoping someone can enlighten me. I'm pretty new at blu-ray ripping and I'm having problems installing ripbot. After installing all other necessary software, I run ripbot264 v.1.16 and get error message "Program can't start because TOOLS/MEDIAINFO/MEDIAINFO.dll is missing from your computer". I tried downloading and installing several times but still get the same error message. I even spoke to a Windows tech who said the problem was not with Windows7 but with compatibility. After trying everything he could, the tech said I would have to get in touch with the creator of ripbot for help. I have friends using the program (on xp) and I hear great things about it. Please advise as I'm going crazy trying to burn blu-rays.
    Thanks!!

Did you use the 64bit version of MediaInfo? I assume you are using W7 64bit? All the programs that RipBot uses are compatible with W7.

The creator of RipBot visits here occasionally, but the program has been tested with W7 32 and 64 bit.
You can also find him at Doom9: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=127611&highlight=RipBot

    And welcome to our forums.

  5. I thought these forums were created to HELP those in need, not ridicule them! Just because I may not know as much as some people about computers does not make me an idiot. Don't tell me you have never had to ask someone for assistance on a topic that you know less about! Just think about it before you make such condescending replies.

Don't worry about what others say, that's why this website (forum) is called videohelp anything you need just ask.

.dlls are normally in your System32 folder, at least for 32 bit operating systems. Not sure where the 64bit OS puts them, probably sysWOW64. I would look in your boot drive>Windows>System>SysWOW64 and System32. I just installed RipBot in a W7 64 bit OS, then downloaded the required files from within RipBot and it ran a conversion with no problem. I checked both SysWOW64 and System32 folders and no 'MEDIAINFO.dll', so not sure where it's supposed to be.

PS: Atak was probably 'ridiculing' me. Don't worry about it.

With Ripbot, try installing an older version. I've had to do that a few times. The v1.14xx versions were more stable with some systems. Use the RipBot dialog box to link the the necessary files to download. That insures compatibility. Uninstall all the add on programs, along with RipBot first, then reboot and reinstall.

  8. Would you happen to have a link for the older version? When I search for it, I keep getting the latest version only.
BTW, I tried creating my own folder with the .dll files in it but that didn't work. Also, I can't download and install the other files from Ripbot because I can't even open it. When I try, I get the error message that started this whole frustrating mess!

https://www.videohelp.com/tools/RipBot264/old-versions#download This may not fix the problem, but I have ran into occasional problems running the latest versions. If you can run a older version, then try one of the newer ones. RB doesn't install, just runs from the folder, so you can have several versions on your PC. I found 1.14.xx versions fairly universal.

Probably obvious, but make sure you launch RB with 'Run as Administrator' at least the first time.

I was able to get it installed by opening the downloaded file in 7zip. all the files show and I unzipped each one separately starting at the top. When you click extract, it offers you a place to unzip and I just added ripbot after the /. that way it made a ripbot file so they stay together. Once you have the files all extracted, go to the folder and you can open the program by opening the file ripbot that is an application. You can right click to pin to start to get your shortcut. To run the program, you can right click and select open or run as administrator. I figured out easy how to add the video file I want to work on but have not figured out how to add a subtitle file to it yet . good luck
