youtube download quality

is there any way that i can download youtube videos in their original form and if not is there any way that is considered to be the closest to the original quality. i am especially interested in the audio being as close as possible to the original.

For almost all of my videos.... "original form" is low quality FLV or more recently iPod/iPhone quality done via HandBrake. Not everyone uploads high quality video to YouTube. After all.....it's only YouTube.
I have 1754 subscribers and nearly 6 million views of my 141 videos. NONE of the videos were uploaded in "high quality".

If you mean by 'original form' the form that Youtube encodes downloaded videos in then yes there are several Youtube downloaders that can do this. If you mean by 'original form' the video as it was downloaded to Youtube the answer is no.

I recommend you try MassTube. This program download the video in their original sound quality and resolution from YouTube server (without convert them, except if you choose other formats to convert).

Not if by 'original sound quality' you mean the audio in the video that was originally uploaded to YouTube. The best you can get is the highest resolution YouTube video, the one they produced from the original upload. Everything gets reencoded, both audio and video, and there's no way to get the 'original'. newpball had already explained that earlier.

I've been using Mozzila FireFox to download videos from youtube ... 720p and 1080p ...

It is a plug in .. you can get from their collection of plugins ... but a message is now popping up saying the Youtube server is not happy with what is going on.
unless you go with the "pro" version.

for this two exemple youtube-dl works very well too and you can choose audio only with different quality

When it finished downloading ... I was not happy ... it was 2 channel audio ... was not stereo ... as I listened to it ... it seemed ... a little fishy ... and sure enuff ... I played it back in ... TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 ... Left and Right ... revealed ... it had no separation.
... But there is another version of this same video ... so to speak ... this one does seem to be Stereo ... it's huge too ...

Firefox has the most plugins for downloading from Youtube:

1. Flashgot
2. DownloadHelper
3. Youtube Video and Audio Downloader

All of those can download video and audio or just audio.

Some download managers can be used, too. Internet download manager, for example.

Google Chrome doesn't really have much options/plugins as Google actually forbids downloading videos from Youtube. Opera is in the same problem as it is based on Blink, like Chrome.
