  1. Hi,

I have a video shooted with a DSLR (Canon EOS 60D) and I have chromatic aberrations and color artifacts on sharp edges. I've done several other videos without this problem...

Do you know how can I fix them with Vegas Pro 13 ?

    The source is AVC/H.264 1920x1080p 25 fps

    Here is a sample:

  2. These aren't traditional "chromatic aberrations" from the lens . The green/magenta "rainbows" are color moire patterns from the sensor. It's a fundamental problem on many DSLR's for video, they skip sensor lines instead of doing a proper resize , since the MP are too high for 1920x1080 and the onboard processing isn't fast enough without overheating

It's not ideal, but what people typically do in general is apply a chroma blur to reduce the effect. Vegas has a chroma blur. And you might have to use it with masks to be more precise (other wise you degrade other parts of "good" footage)

  3. Thanks I'll try that. I used my DSLR just to use the Wide Angle.

It's a real pain to find a camcoder with a true Wide Angle. Many of start start at around 30-35mm....

  4. I would look more closely at your other videos. It's probably there and you haven't noticed.

What predisposes you to these artifacts isn't really the wide angle. It's the content. Shoot a brick wall, or roof tiles , or pattern curtains, or patterned clothing, or picket fence - basically any repeating pattern, and you will get these ugly, ugly "rainbow" artifacts at certain distances and angles.
