  1. Ok i solved the problem, if your getting black/blank video but can hear sound it's your divx codec. I had 5.0 code installed and it's crap because i just un-installed divx 5.0 and tehn re-installed 3.x/4.x codecs. now i can perfectly conver divx to mpeg. finally! divx.com you bastards!

  3. Well it works. You are right it was the 5 program. I uninstalled 5 and installed 4 and it works now. Thank you very cool

  4. If you install 5 after 3 and 4 it will work too. it only blanks out if you install 5 first.

  5. I run DivxPro 5 on my comp and thats it (I use it for vob to vcd, avi to vcd, vob to avi of course, along with numerous other things) I have had problems with that black screen but found that just putting the directshow multimedia filter to top priority in environmental settings fixed my problem. Divxpro 5 is a very good codec and compresses divx files much better and much more clear especially with dual pass enabled. All Problems i have had so far are fixed in the program itself not because of a divx codec.

People before you uninstall your quality divx codec try bumping up the priority on directshow mulitmedia filters in tmpgenc. Divx 3 and 4 suck ass compared to 5

  7. Madhatta: Sorry, but DivX3.11 is still the codec to use for DivX. DivX5 or 4 can't encode for example rain without blurring the damn thing so much that you can't see it's rain anymore.

  8. The Divx 5.01 codec released yesterday seems to fix the problems. With 5.0 I got blank screens in Vdub, with 5.01 everything seems to be back to normal.

  9. xaanin: obviously you havent tried dual pass encoding with the new divxpro its amazing and i havent seen rain blur with the dual pass or for that matter any blurring what so ever even in high motion films. Divxpro owns over 3

  10. DivX5, just like DivX4 has some kind of built in blur to prevent blockiness of any kind. Feel free to read Doom9s codec comparision, read at http://www.doom9.org/codec2.htm . I agree with him.

  11. the thing is who really cares, if the final result looks very very nice then what does it really matter what they have done to the codec. I am just saying why clog up the system with 3 codecs when there is absolutely no need to.
