    I have an avi file a frind of mine sent me, and it wont play in my stand alone player although any I encode will play fine. I checked the file with a program called MPEGModifier and it showed that all the stuff I encode has a packed bitstream, but this one file that was sent to me has an unpacked bitstream. What can I do to change it to a packed bitstream??

    Just download a program called Mpeg4 Modifier from here: http://www.disney.com/

    It's very simple to use.

    Please check the date before you reply....2004....and the op is already using mpeg4 modifier(mpegmodifier is the same).

    Or are you just a brothersoft spammer?

    It's spam. Why would you download from "brothersoft.com" ? The OP already mentions MPEG4Modifier as well in the 1st post
