I currently own a Toshiba SD2200, also just purchased a Apex AD-3201 (this player sucks) - When you turn off macrovision and set it to play all regions - several DVDs from region 1 will not play.

By the way what is macrovision?

Toshiba's quality is much better - I connected the toshiba using composite vs. the APEX that has a s-video connection - no competition Toshiba wins hands down.

But I am looking for a DVD player with more features and better playback of VCDs, SVCDs, etc

    Any recommendations?

  2. For recomendations check ouyt the dvd player list. That many disk don't play when set to region 0 is nothing new you have to set the player back to region 1. Unless you watch alot of movies from outside north america i'd leave there. Macrovision is an anti piracy code that's added to dvds and vhs tapes to stop ppl from copying it. Unless you do direct copying or using an ati capture card you probably don't need to worry about it
