  1. I'm trying to convert MPEG-1 streams into DivX format using Virtual Dub. Now I get the option of using Divx 4 low motion or the new Divx5.0.1 for video compression... Hmmmm the guide isn't updated to this, so I'm wondering if Divx5 would be better? What do y'all think? Who's the better player in the game ?

  2. Alright folks, let me be more clear. I've exracted the *.vob files of a DVD using CladDVD version 1.3.

Then I used DVD2AVI and saved the *.vob files as an AVI and an uncompressed *.wav file. Using Force Film.

Then I opened the AVI file using Virtual Dub version 4.9. And then I went to audio and opened the wav file.

    Then I went to Audio >> compression >> Mpeg Layer 3 192kbs 48hz

Then I went to Video >> compression..... Now here's the question. I've done both Divx 4 low-motion and Divx 5. Divx 5 comes out a little bigger in size. I couldn't really see a quality difference but I could be wrong. Do I want to stick with Divx 4 Low motion or Divx 5 for my video copmression. Please fill me with input. Thanks

  3. I'd trust my own eyes and ears before I'd trust some goob (and that includes me) on a message board.

Seriously, things like image quality or sound quality...how it looks or sounds to you is all that matters, isn't it? If not, why not...
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  5. Basically I just want an explanation of what kind of code difference or main compression difference or whatever difference there is between divx4 and 5
