  1. I am trying to encode from Divx to mpeg2 to burn onto DVD. Using the FOOLPROOF AVI,DivX to SVCD using CCE guide, I am attempting to make the conversion, keeping in mind that I want DVD compliance. I have stripped the audio out and have a large Wav file and I also have my stripped avi file without sound.
When I attempt to use CCE 2.62 while Virtual Dub is in frame serving mode, I constantly am getting a "Read only 0 Bytes, while expecting 8 bytes " once I try to encode in CCE. This is the same error that I get if I just try to use CCE to re-encode the DIVX file itself. What does this error mean, and how can I remedy it? I have searched the site and the forum, and have not come up with this error message and what will fix it. Why am I getting this error?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Fear not, Jim, for the Reverend Jake, man of God, pack-a-day smoker and professional musician shall help thee!

Hope ya got a little extra hard drive space.

Open up your original divx .avi file in Vdub. Turn off the audio, and make sure that video is set to "direct stream copy."

Then, head to the file menu and save your now-soundless .avi using "save old format .avi."

Take the (new) old format .avi you just saved, and CCE will love it.

Had the same problem, which drove me to TMPGenc. Waiting 12 hours for TMPGenc to handle stuff I frameserved from Vdub drove me to CCE, where I soon discovered the answer to the "expecting shit what ain't there" dilemma.

$Four grand? Worth every cent. Now I just gotta worry about rent.
