I recently purchased a copy of DVD monthly (Issue 15). On it there was a copy of VERTICAL LIMIT in VCD format.

I thought cool, Finally I get to try out an industry Pressed VCD.

Just to let you know I have a Pioneer DV-636D.
First I tried on it my PC (PowerDVD), it worked.
(Note it has a few menus and a number of Video tracks.
I then tried on it on the DVD Player and it refused to work.

I stopped it and selected a video track directly (not the menu tracks). Guess what it played.

So the question is this, Why are menus refusing to play on this DVD player?. Is this a hardware problem.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
I've tried creating VCD's with Nero(5.5.2.4) using it's menu layout and it works until I decide to put my own picture in.
I've also tried adding bmps and other picture formats using WinonCD and VideoPack and for some reason unless they pre-recorded as a VCD compliant file (.MPEG with Audio) it just won't work.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

The only way I can get a menu system to work is by using Mediastudio to create a >0 second video clip with an audio track and outputting it as a MPGVCDcompliant video file.

At first I tought I wasn't creating a VCD file correctly, now I'm not sure. HELP

    Cheers

It would be interesting to hear what exact version of Nero you are using. This problem was often mentioned, apart from the Nero version 5.5.2.3.
