  1. Hi-

I posted that I have a TVR140 Sony Digital8 camcorder that I want to capture digital stills and taped video to conver to VCDs for storage.

I have a HP 520n it has TWO usb's on the front of the PC. The camera came with A USB conector and PIXELA software.. I tried to capture video and stills but the quality is HORRIBLE. All blurred?

I do NOT have a capture card? IS there just software to but to use with the USB or should I spring for a capture card with software and firewire?

    Thanks

  3. I don't know the quality of USB-transferred video. But to get the best quality out of a digital camcorder, you'll need a firewire card. This would allow you to 'transfer' (not capture) your video from D8 to your harddrive.

You can also capture the video to your HD, using an analog capture card, by using the analog out of your cam to the input of the capture card. But that defeats the purpose of your cam's firewire port.

Either way, you're going to buy a card. So I would suggest that you buy a firewire card, instead of an analog capture card.

    hope this helps.

    ... ieee1394 firewire and [...] i.link
ieee1394 is firewire is i.Link etc. etc. etc.

Firewire and i.link are just "brand" names for ieee1394

which isn't the same thing as quality electronics.
