  1. I have pretty much mastered my process with

    Smartripper
    DVD2AVI
    SSRC
    TMPGEnc

I am quite happy with the vcd/svcds I produce but if they can be better then i will go for it. What I want to know is although peeps say it is cooler, faster and better quality, will I be able to substitute TMPGEnc for CCE or will I need a whole different process?

And where can I find out how to use it, how difficult it might be and the process involved etc BEFORE I go and get it. If it is a whole new method and complex then it may not be worth it.

Finally is DVD2SVCD the best way to use CCE? I have Premiere and can't I use CCE as a plug in for that?

Lots to ask I know but I will pass it all on, thank you. :D

Hehe, I didn't mean that version  I mean the $250 one.

Does that make a big difference?

About that $4000 version, why so dear, how big is it, does it make your dinner too?

250 for CCE Lite? You better stick with CCE SP 2.64

The lite version is for Constant BitRate encodes only. No, IMHO it is not worth to pay 250 $.

Stick with TMPGEnc. While CCE is faster and alledgedly produces better quality(I couldn't tell the difference) than TMPGEnc, it isn't worth the $250. Your money would be better spent elsewhere.

  7. CCE is 3 to 4 time faster at least and quality is much better than TPMGEnc, but it does not do as much as TMPGEnc.

You have to prepare the AVI file (filter, resize,...) before you can use CCE, then you have to multiplex the Video and Audio Mpeg files.

There is a trial version (CCE 2.64 SP I believe) available.

I use Virtual Dub for capturing & processing, CCE for Mpeg2 coding and TPMGEnc for multiplexing.
