I have successfully copied DVD to DVD-R with little or no encoding at all. Of course using Smartripper, i go to the stream processing tab. I choose the video and the first 2 audio files, just to be safe. The size that it says it will be is not right. DO NOT choose to Demux to extra file. If u leave that alone it will create the vob files. Once that is done, use IFOedit v0.9, and choose create ifo's and point it to the new vobs. Once that has finished choose GET VTS Sectors. Save any changes. Boom your done. Run the ifo in like PowerDVD just to test. If all works you are ready to burn directly to DVD-R. Make sure the size is right to fit DVD-R. When u put it in the standalone player it will automatically play the movie and you will have the chapters and audio. No quality and/or audio loss cause of it still being the vobs from the dvd.

If the movie is still to big for DVD-R, use DVD2AVI on those files and create your d2v file for TMPGEnc. Choose the DVD template. Load up and encode. It should be around 2 gigs or so. But the file in an authoring program like DVDIT 2.5, create ur menus and such. Your done and ready to burn. On the template for the DVD, i didn't notice any difference from the actually vob files.

I have successfully done this many times. If u have any questions or whatever just post them.
