I purchased a HDMI cable from Amazon. No name brand.I want to connect my two laptops to my Sony tv.
However, my HP laptop works fine. Audio and video work from the HP laptop on my TV.
But my Asus laptop will only send video; the audio still comes from the laptop's speakers. Both laptops are on Windows 7.
Is there some setting on the Asus where I need to turn on audio to the TV (turn off laptop speakers) Shouldn't the Asus auto detect audio/video like my HP does???

Go to the Sound applet in Control Panel and set the HDMI/Digital output as the default.
