  1. PBS has updated their site. I've always used StreamTransport to download PBS videos (Frontline, Nature, etc), but recently it's stopped working. The video pane doesn't load in StreamTransport, or with rtmpdump with rtmpexplorer/rtmpdumphelper. StreamHijacker and get-flash-videos (http://code.google.com/p/get-flash-videos/) didn't work either.

Does anyone know of a utility that will work with the updated version of the PBS site? Here is an example of what I'd like to get: http://video.pbs.org/video/2365095227/

    Thank you!

  2. you need to find the m3u8 of the video quality you want and download it.

Then put the m3u8 in your ffmpeg to download the video with all the split up .ts files

    ffmpeg.exe -i "http://ga.video.cdn.pbs.org/cove2.0/nature/7f2eb531-4040-4ab7-82c2-ee88a0f0a45b/2013-10-09-180056/hd-mezzanine-16x9/earf0106_mezz16x9-16x9-hls-800k.m3u8" -c copy t.ts

  3. Thank you! I'll Google m3u8 and see if I can figure it out, but if you know, can you tell me how to find the m3u8 URL? Is there a particular browser that will show it to me or something?

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the step in the right direction. I had trouble noticing the m3u8 file too.

FYI- I located it with Chrome's developer tools, on the Network tab. The content type for the m3u8 files were 'application/vnd.apple.mpegurl'.

Also, I had problems with ffmpeg crashing on the stream I was using. Not sure if its ffmpeg or the stream. I ended up downloading each .ts part in a batch and then joining them with TSSplitter. It worked...

  5. Does anybody know of any near one-click solutions to capture new PBS videos? I won't be able to follow above instructions unless somebody provides click by click instructions, with at least one exact example (with screenshots) which I can practice with. When I use Firefox Download Helper (which used to work) I can only get the 30 second advertisement and then I get the following error message ( see screenshot) "Cannot loadM3U8: crossdomain access denied". Sounds nasty.

  6. Need free solution. I tried using ffmpeg but only a Dos window appeared for a second and then disappeared. No time to type in a command, even if I knew what command to type in.
