Im trying to convert an MP4 file into an MPEG so I can use it in TMPGEnc DVD AUTHOUR to produce a DVD that will play on a standard DVD player. I have tried using TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER but it has converted the MP4 file into TWO halves. I cannot find any setting in the program that makes this SPLIT happen. The MP4 file is 275MB and lasts around an hour.

Can anyone recommend a good converter that will simply convert the MP4 file into one MPEG file that is able to be opened in TMPGEnc DVD Authour.

  2. Any mpeg2 encoder will work, TMPGenc 2.5, HCEnc, Mencoder, ffmpeg. You can also upgrade from your old, old version to the current TMPGenc Authoring Works 5, or use AVStoDVD as an all-in-one solution.

AVStoDVD can use the HCenc encoder and output as an mpeg file, or as elementary streams. You don't have to do the authoring step in it if you would prefer to do that in TMPGenc.

  5. efiste2: You could also use Freemake Video Converter to take the .mp4 file and convert it to a DVD for you or an .mpeg2 file that should be DVD compliant that your Tmpgenc DVD Author will like. I have to caution you though if you chose Freemake Video Converter be very wary on the install as you can end up with Toolbars and other stuff you probably don't want on your computer. I would try the AVStoDVD first to see if it can get the job done.
