I am trying to convert MP4 and VOB to AVI so that I can edit them, which I have done in the past, but I had to have my hard drive reformatted and I can not remember what programs I used and of course the settings.

I have down load a MP4 converter in fact more then one, but when I try to edit [ the same editor I used before] I get the message below, I have tried a number of setting on the converts like (AVI for Devices – Archos 7) ( AVI – Auto ) I get the same error message

Avi Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected VBR audio in AVI is non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to Oms when attempting to extract WAV files or playing in decompress or recompress the audio [This warning can be disabled in Options Preference AVI bitrate 128.0+ - 0.1 kbps]

Any ideas what is wrong, the editor I am using is VIRTUALDUB

    1) AVI is a container - not a video format.
    2) Converting stuff to "AVI" just to edit it is incredibly stupid.

I have found video editor that will edit VOB files which isAvidemux.
But it leaves the last frame; there must be some way roundthis?

I tried to edit MP4 videos taken by my video camera and Iget the message below any ideas

    H264 detected

If the file is using bframe as reference, it can lead tocrash or stutteting.
Avidemux can use another mode which is safed but YOU WILLLOOSE FRAME ACCURACY.
Do you want to use that mode ?
