unsearchable video

I have a couple of videos that during the process of recording the program crashed, but the videos survived. However, when playing the video, I cannot "scroll" or search the video, it plays from the start of the video and just keeps going, I cannot fast forward or rewind, i.e. if it's playing at 3rd minute mark, and I try to click 10th minute mark to move forward, it cannot. Does anybody know of any tool that can repair the videos?

More details please. What device or software was used to reord the files, what kind of files are they, how are they stored, what kind of device or software are you using to play it back?

It was done on a Windows XP notebook, using Logitech's own recording software to record from webcam. I believe the end result was in WMV format.
