  1. Hi,

    I need to make a DVD with a video menu (dissolving stills a-la Ken Burns) but without disc or menu titles) that plays about two minutes long. Naturally, this menu video would repeat over and over like any good DVD menu should when the disc is inserted. When PLAY is pressed, the main movie would start and playback once (also normal). After the main movie plays, the 2-minute menu would again appear and playback over and over again. Any comments, help or how-to's are appreciated!

    i'd make the menu in vegas pro with whatever dissolves you want render out to mpeg2. import the menu into dvdlab pro and use it as a motion menu. add the play movie text , and the rest is just connecting the dots in dvdlab between the menu and movie then back to menu.

  3. aedipuss;

    Thank you. I already have the menu created as an mp4. I'll convert that and try dvdlab. More news as it develops.

  4. Once you have your menu as separate audio and video, both DVD complaint (720x480/576 MPEG-2 video and WAV, AC3 or even MP2 audio (for PAL)), just about any authoring program should be able to do as you requested. I use the freeware DVDAuthorGUI for exactly the same things as you require.

    You should have created your menu video as MPEG-2 to begin with.

  5. Thanks but I was told as an aside that menus can only be 30 sec. max. If that is so, I'll just have two programs on the DVD. I'm trying to engineer stupidity out of the playback process. Maybe I can't.......

    You were given bad information. There's no length limit. There is a size limit of 1GB.

    No, IIRC there IS a 2 minute limitation before looping. At least, all PRO software uses that as the limit.

    Where exactly is the 2-minute limit imposed? I mostly use Encore to author DVDs and blu-rays. I generally place an audio clip to accompany a still menu, full songs 3mins & more, then loop it about 2 to 5x before it goes to play the next thing if no button is selected.
    For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".
