  1. Hello Guys

I am new here, although I know the differences between Blu-ray, DVD and the use of a HDMI-cable, there are some questions I can't answer by myself:

On the one hand I have a HP-Laptop (pavilion dv7) able to play back blu-ray-discs and with a HDMI connection and on the other hand I have a Samsung LED TV (series 6 6500) able to play back 3D, both without internet-connection.
My question is how can I play back a 3D-blu-ray-movie on the laptop connecting it via HDMI-cable to the LED TV and make it look realy 3D?
One of the options I am trying right now is just press the 3D buttom at the TV-controler and convert the movie in 3D in the TV, but isn't it possible to already play back 3D on the Laptop in order to get real 3D viewing in the TV and not only the "half-3D" experience you can get by pressing the 3D buttom with almost any movie or channel and not only with movies designed to view in 3D. Is there any software as Cyberling PowerDVD or similar I need to purchase in order to play back 3D movies?
Please help me out with this problem!

    Thank you very much!

For any extra information just ask and I will be glad to answer!

3d blu-ray standalone players are cheap.

the best you could do with a laptop would be to get half side-by-side or half over-under copies of 3d blu-rays and play them. then you could use the tv's sbs or ou 3d.

Yes. This is the way to go.

In order to get the 3d support in the software players I think you have to get the pro versions which start at least 50.00 or more. You should be able to get a bare bones 3d bluray player under a 100.00 usd these days. It may or may not be wifi built in but if wifi is a must you can get the netgear universal wifi adapter that turns any lan only player into a wifi player (its 50.00 usd fyi when purchased new, I have one and it works great on my 2d bluray player for playing hdx movies over vudu - the 1080p ones).

Save yourself the hassle of using software players and moving your laptop to a dedicated movie player and invest in a settop player that comes with a remote and is designed just for playing movies.

That is surely the cheapest and most consistently hassle-free of your options, but that does leave out the capability of multiple source formats and layouts. A 3dbd player is guaranteed to play 3dbd discs in fullhd3d, but not necessarily anything else.

Assuming your laptop is already powerful enough (a big if), and your HDMI output meets v1.4 specs, all you would then need is the recent full/ultra/deluxe 3d versions of either WinDVD, PowerDVD, or TMT.
That, plus a registered copy of Stereoscopic Player would offer you the possibility of playing a wide variety of inputs, including net streaming and discimages and rips, and would allow on the fly conversion to your display device choice.

If your laptop can only do HDMI v1.3, then it would only be capable of providing 1/2 rez 3d quality through hdmi.

Or get both hardware and software, and be truly flexible.
