  1. After getting thoroughly annoyed with Adobe Encore, I decided to give DVD Architect Pro 6 a try. So far it's pretty great, doing almost everything I want it to so far. However, I cannot figure out if it has multi page menu support like Encore has.

When someone clicks on the "Scenes" button, I want the background image and music to keep playing while the list of scenes appears on the screen. Right now it loads a new screen with a new background and starts the music over again. Can DVDA Pro support this kind of feature? If so, is this something I have to set up in something like Photoshop with layers and groups?

  4. It's not possible to have continuous music when switching menus with DVD or blu-ray - there will always be a break

(regardless of what software you use)

  5. Really dude, you seem pretty smart -- but slow down and read the manual.

I've read most parts of the manual, but didn't see anything on making seamless menus. I know it talks about using .psd files and how to set them up, but they talk mostly about the buttons. Plus software manuals are always lacking the essential details. That stuff usually comes from forums and tutorials.

Incorrect. Encore will allow you to switch menu pages without restarting or having a break in the music. Watch a commercial Blu-ray and you will see that the menus are seamless. The problem with Encore is the pause it causes at the loop point which is why I gave DVDA a try because it doesn't have that problem.

  7. eday, it helps to think of menus as kind of magic tricks. One creates the illusion of seamless looping, continuous music, or animation. The loop point may not really be where you think it is on the ones you call seamless.

Ok, sorry I think we are talking about 2 different things.

I was referring to switched menus +/- menu transitions, you're probably talking about single multipage menu. There is always a break with switched menus, or menu to timeline, because it plays a new video and new audio track .

AFAIK DVDA cannot do multipage menu, but have a look at the instructions

No problem. It would be really disappointing if it didn't do single multi page menus. I wouldn't be surprised if they left that out and only included it in their industry program Blu-Print. I will take another look at the manual and online, but thus far I haven't found anything. I am hoping that that's due to them referring to it as something different.

You were advised in your other thread that you were concentrating on the wrong things in doing these menus.

To recap, they might look good but the novelty will wear off after the first view and could even be annoying to the end-user.

If you have a product that does it then use it. So it may not be perfect but it is probably not something that can be easily achieved in a pro-sumer product.

But you really should concentrate your efforts on what really matters to the end-user - picture and sound quality.

  11. Picture and sound quality are taken care of. I wanted to make the menu experience better than what is available on DVD. I settled for not having a multi page single menu since DVDA can't do it. But all the scenes fit onto one page, so it's not a big deal. And the menu intro can be fast forwarded through and all the end actions are set to go to the loop point.

Again, do not worry about convincing me not to do things a certain way. I was simply asking if this program was able to do something. I am not looking for your opinion, but a simple "yes it can/no it can't" answer.
