  1. I have a few MP4 files that are conversions of mpg files which in turn were captured video. The converted MP4 files dont play in VLC. So i have been googling repair mp4 and i found HD Video Repair which sort of repaired on of the files - at least i could hear the audio but the video was unrecognizable. Is there any way to fix these mp4 files? Or can anyone create a new header for the files?
Is the fact that the video is viewable after a run through with HD Video Repair because of the trial limitation?

Start over and recreate them. Far easier.

    Hello NOMORECOCKTAILS,

You could try to preview them using MP4repair.org. In case preview is fine then you could repair them. If not simply try to re-capture them again as suggested.
