Hi, I have a Sony DVPN628P dvd/cd player & also an LG 380 dvd player , recently I bought some bootleg dvd's and put them in my machines and what happened was the dvd would not play and I received a message on my machine which says "cannot play the disc",
Now my machines wont play any disc at all never mind the bootleg discs,
Can anyone please advise?

See if there's a reset with your remote(s) in your manual(s)

This message usually means something like "You are trying to play a PAL DVD and I only play NTSC" or vice-versa. However, this kind of problem is rare in PAL countries like Australia. It's impossible to know what the deal is based on the info provided. You'll have to test the DVDs in a PC to see if they play as PCs do not use PAL/NTSC, so both types should play if they were made correctly. You might try installing MediaInfo and use it to open one of the largest VOB files on a problem DVD under the VIDEO_TS folder and post the information here so we can take a look. If you don't have a VOB file or a VIDEO_TS folder, that's definitely a problem with the disc.
There's no logical reason for both players going nuts because of this.

Hi, and thanks for the replies, well the dvd's in question are copy dvd bought here in australia , when I say copied I mean they are copies of movies commonly known as pirated or bootleg,
they work perfectly in my computer , I have bought the movies from the same source and they have always been fine in the past, does anyone have any other ideas?
Is there a re-set button on dvd players?
