  1. Im looking for some tips on capturing to make a SVCD. My source will be a VHS tape. I can capture as Mpeg1, Mpeg 2 or AVI. I can capture a frame rate of to 720x 480. I can capture a bit rate up to 10,000. My questions are these. What format should I capture in? What frame rate should I capture in and what bitrate should I capture in? My friend says I should capture in Mpeg2 but Tmpge does not seem to support it and neither does Panasonic or Lsx encoder so Im not sure why he thinks that is best. I have captured in Mpeg1 and then encoded it to SVCD in Tmpge using the SVCD template that gives about 55 minute per disk but Nero will not accept the file. Nero says invalaid file format. Ive tried to capture in AVI and then encode the same way but Nero still wont accept the file so Im not really sure what to do. Thanks for all help.

  2. in Nero, uncheck the option to make a "compliant" SVCD. It should accept the file.

TSCV is a program you should try for making VCD's. It's a lot more versitile, and the price is right (free!).
