Hi Guys, new here so please be gentle and please don't take me for a fool because I'm not.

I've tried the hack posted on the site at this url: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/lg-dp522h/11958,
it doesn't work at all for me, so my questions are as follows:

    1. Can someone please confirm that they really used this and it really worked, it's posted all over internet so it might be that the person in question didn't really try the hack, just copied and pasted, not to accuse anyone, but anyway.

    2. If it worked for you, what region are you in? When did you buy your player? Mine was packed at LG factory 28 Feb 2012.
This should mean that I don't have any new mumbo-jumbo firmware that it shouldn't work on, more the other way around in that case. I'm in region 2, Europe btw.

    3. If you have any info of another hack that actually might work, please, let me know!

    Many thanks in advance
    //Dan

if your dvd player was purchased this year it probly has the latest/newest firmware on it, so hacks (if any) will no longer work.
and not all dvd/bluray players can be hacked.

The hack was posted just 8 days ago or so, so it should work in my mind if it's that new.

Not if the hack was meant to cover a former firmware. And you also have to be extra careful about models: manufacturers often change their internals during the life of a model such that "version A" has only some in common with "version H" - even within the same model. This kind of thing has been going on for decades (my old 2000 Apex DVD player had similar issues). You often have to check serial # series.

    1) As pointed out, YOUR model may have hardware and/or firmware differences from the ones the hack works on.
    2) Sometimes the hacks only work on models sold in particular parts of the world. It's not unusual for hacks to not work at all on models sold in the USA and Canada but work on models sold in Australia, for example.
    3) We've had people post hacks that leave out critical information and the hack won't work without it. For example, maybe after entering a number sequence you have to push the up arrow on the remote control. It's not common, but this kind of thing does happen. I've got a Philips DVD player that can be hacked to become region free, but there are 2 different instructions on our DVD Players list on how to do it and one set is correct and the other leaves out critical steps you need to make the hack work.

To Comment on your number 1 and 2; that's why I posted my questions here, what I wanted was answers from the one who posted the hack or someone who has used it successfully to find out what may be the issue with my player, it's worth pointing out that if the hack is posted for DP522H it should work for H not A, or is that only in my mind?
The part about missing steps in the instructions may very well be true and that's to bad if that is the case but then again, that's why I posted this thread/topic, to try to get a serious answer, because this forum gave a hint of being filled with people who are serious and knows a thing or two about this stuff

So far thanks for all the feedback but I'm still not ready to give up on a solution to this

saturn5 - Nobody is criticizing you. We're just explaining possible reasons why it isn't working. And it's OK to not give up, but do understand that for the reasons we mentioned that you may not find a way to make it work. Perhaps someone will respond to the thread with some information that is specific to your player and can help you.

In your example question, with some manufacturers a hack for DP522H would work for DP522A and maybe also for a completely different model like DP532B (let's pretend this model is real). With other manufacturers, a hack for DP522H would only work on DP522H and nothing else at all. In general LG players are much more likely to be able to be hacked than anything made by Samsung or Sony, but Pioneer, Philips and various small manufacturers are probably easier to hack than LG.

You received a number of serious answers from some pretty knowledgeable people. If it wasn't what you want to hear, tough.
