Batch Converting for PSVita

On my Linux box, I couldn't find any GUI converter that satisfied me, and I was desperate to convert some videos from .avi to ..mp4, particularly to PSVita format. So I decided I would write a script to convert them on my own.

I am considering using ffmpeg to do this, but if that doesn't do it well, I might also try mencoder or something completely different.

In short, I am looking to see how people use ffmpeg to convert videos (with added subs) for their PSVita. Which command do you use to do this?

I guess you have googled for ffmpeg ps vita and didn't find any examples?

You must then try yourself. Google ffmpeg x264 examples and try with lower resolution and h264 profiles. Newer ffmpeg versions can also burn in subtitles.

I dont know much about the PS Vita at all, but Sony's site says this:

• MPEG-4 Simple Profile Level 6, Maximum 1280 ｘ 720 pixels, AAC
• H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Baseline/Main/High Profile Level 4.0, Maximum 1080p, AAC

You should be able to create a preset for the Vita with Handbrake.

Yes, I did check google for examples, and I did find some. However I wasn't sure they were optimized for the Vita, so I decided I would ask here.

Those look helpful, but I am not sure how I can convert them to ffmpeg parameters.
