hi all. i have on br lotr:tfotr extended edition. now the first half of the film is on one br disc and the second half is on the 2nd br disc. i know how to rip br content be it full disc or main title but my issue is how to join the 2 separate titles to one bd25. i know how how to shrink to bd25.

  2. With the LOTR movie extended editions, the audio and video are of very slightly different lengths. So if you join them as-is, the sync will be off for the second half.

The solution is to extract main movie with Clown_BD and cut off the last second of the runtime. Look for that option in settings.

Then simply join the two parts with tsMuxer. Click Add for the first m2ts file, and Join for the second m2ts.

To get the chapter timings right is just a matter of recalculating the timings for the second half by adding the total runtime of the first half to each chapter time of the second. (Start with the demuxed chapter timings from your Clown_BD demux folder.) Then copy/paste into the chapter timings in tsMuxer.

Or I can post them if you like, as for some reason I never deleted them from my HTPC.

Both, direct from disc if possible, running a driver-level decrypter in the background like AnyDVDHD or DVDFabPasskey. It's simpler that way. Re-encoding to BD25 should be your last step. I suggest BDRB.

When using tsMuxer, be certain you have it set to remux to Blu-Ray, as it's easy to overlook. In chapter timings under the Blu-Ray tab, set to Custom and clear the pane. Copy/paste in the new chapter timings

The result doesn't look too bad, considering the length of these movies. (I re-encoded the audio to AC3 640 kbs while extracting with Clown_BD, leaving more room for the video. So that helps a good deal.) When I said the sync would be slightly off above, if you don't do as I suggest, I mean maybe a second or so, which is definitely unacceptable. So "very slightly off" is an inaccurate description. It's not uncommon for audio and video to be of different lengths in a movie.

    Good luck.

im gona need a step by step for this project as it looks really complicated.

  7. It's actually quite simple, and I pretty much gave you all the steps already.

    1) Set up Clown_BD. Make sure the option to cut off the last second of the movie is checked.

    2) Run AnyDVDHD or DVDFabPasskey in the background. Extract each part from original disc with Clown_BD, and convert the audio to AC3 640 kps at the same time.

    3) Open tsMuxer and click ADD. Select the m2ts of the first part. (In the BDMV -> STREAM folder). Click JOIN for the second part and select the second m2ts.

    4) Select mux to Blu-Ray. Click the Blu-Ray tab and select custom chapters. Clear the pane. Copy the chapter timings I provided and paste them in the pane. Mux the project.

    5) Setup BDRebuilder. (Go to the developer's site linked on the tool page if you need help setting up BDRB).

    6) Select your remuxed folder. Choose BD25 output in BDRB. Start the re-encode. Wait for it to finish. Done.

when using clown bd, the movie output format should be selected to what?
    Quote Quote
  9. It actually doesn't matter, as you'll be remuxing, and tsMuxer will accept any of the available options. I use Blu-Ray folder output in Clown_BD.

mission was a success BUT when playing back the final product on my blu ray player i could hear this static buzzing sound. can anyone shed light on where i may have gone wrong?
    Quote Quote
  11. Does this buzzing occur when playing your project back on your computer? Ideally, you'd double-check on another standalone player.

If not, check your cables; detach and re-connect. I can't imagine how that could be induced by anything other than hardware. Maybe someone else can advise, I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

  12. Now that I think about it, there was one oddity about the audio on these movies. The subwoofer channel has some very robust passages. Before I got my powered subwoofer, I had that channel distributed to my large front speakers. Occasionally, I'd hear a brief buzzing/crackling, for example during the shock wave effect when Sauron was destroyed early in the first movie. That was the reason, actually, that I finally got a subwoofer, which solved the problem.

Is your "buzzing" as I described? That is, brief and only during strong LFE passages? Do you have a subwoofer or is that channel remixed into your front speakers?

Anyway, if you can't nail down the problem otherwise, have a do over and this time *don't* have Clown_BD convert the audio. Keep it as-is or let BDRB do the audio conversion.

    Good luck.

its very evident at the start of the film and at the loud lfe passages as well. how would i go about re-doing it?
    Quote Quote
  14. You're sure not helping much with details here. Like did you re-encode the audio the first time or not? Is the buzzing sound constant or intermittent? What are you playing the audio on: internal TV speakers or a surround system? Got a subwoofer? Audio out settings on your BD standalone? Etc, etc.

Anyway, and as I said above, you could try *not* re-encoding the audio. More to narrow things down than anything else. But you're making me guess.

i followed the instructions the first time with re-encoding to 640kps. i think that part was the cause of the static sound. i have just done a redo without re-encoding the audio. i now am gona shrink to bd25. i will let u know the result soon. btw my speakers are logitech. they are running off my pc and tv. its a 5.1 setup. thje buzzing is sometimes constant and intermittent. yes i have a sub hence 5.1. i have tried it in the lounge as well on a stand alone player with no surround and still the static is there

  16. If keeping the audio as-is works, that would seem to indicate that the Aften encoder (used by Clown_BD and eac3to) buggered the audio somehow. Very strange, I've done a lot of main movie backups, extracting the movie with Clown_BD first, and re-encoding to AC3. Never had that buzzing problem, apart from the hardware issue I mentioned earlier.

I wonder if you have a configuration issue on your computer, specifically the audio decoders. If you have BDRB, there's a utility called inspect.exe in your BDRB folder. I'd run it if I were you and see if it can identify anything wrong with your decoders. And if you're using Win7, you can right-click the BDRB executable, select run as administrator, and BDRB will offer to fix any configuration problems for you automatically. (Hint: fill in your computer details).

Again, and assuming your configuration comes up okay, and if keeping original audio works, I'd then try letting BDRB re-encode the audio to AC3 640 kbp while re-encoding to BD25.

Interesting problem, and if anyone else has an insight into it, I hope they'll join in.

    Good luck.
