I have been using AVS 4 you for years to add subtitles without any problem. All of a sudden it dosn't see the .srt or .txt file and it will burn the project but without subs. Since there is no preview it is like shooting in the dark. Only at the end you end up with a coaster. The AVS editor and remaker will not designed to see subs so still no preview. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it is still the same, no subs.
Got frustrated and have tried about 8 different programs and finaly Freemake converter did the job quite well.
The only issue is the size of the fonts. You got to have your face in the screen to be able to read it.
    Any ideas?

Or are you making a dvd? Then use convertxtodvd or avstodvd, load your video and then the srt and they will make a dvd with switchable subtitles.

Yes I'm burning to a DVD. This particular case it is a download of a Hungarian movie and try to attach subs. to it and burn it so it could be played on a DVD machine. The Freemake did a good job but the font size is rediculosly small. That just proves that the files are OK since Freemake made a good copy

    Hi Baldrick

Well, I managed to get the titles on the video but lost the audio. I can not figure out why since the audio settings were ticked in unless I have overlooked something being a program I didn't work before.

I hope this is the right log file. Is it possible not to have audio if MKV tools are not loaded/installed?
After instalation of the program I realized that there are some other programs that I have also installed beside the AVSto DVD and I have uninstalled them.
Had gone over of all settings there was "No Audio" indicated on the audio page. So the only thing I could think of was the MKV tools.
Reinstalled them but not veryfied if that is the cause of the probllem yet.

  9. The source file is an AVI, no need of MKVtoolNix for this project.

The project has aborted before end of video encoding. The audio and subtitles steps have not reached yet.

What kind of directshow codecs are you using?

I guess that was the wrong log. Actually the process had gone thorough all the way including the burning. So the encoding had to take place. Oddly when I was looking at the Audio Tab it was written no audio on it. About the codec I'm not sure but I have been using Pinnacle Studio 14 for video editing and Reaper for my Audio work. Have K-lite Mega installed.
At this point I'm running the same project and it is encoding. The Audio page has shown the audio settings. I will see. On another thought, I did not re-started after the program instalation but this morning I had start up my computer.

Well after 6.5 Hours ( and that is strange) I ended up with nothing. Didn't even burn. Here is the log file and that might help.
Thanks for all your effort in helping me and the others. Hope that eventually we will come to a positive conclusion.
Attached is the log file and system info

    Thanks again

  12. What do you mean "ended up with nothing"? The DVD folder structure has been created and from the log file, everything is OK and ready to be played/burned. You have not selected 'Burn DVD', thus AVStoDVD has not burned your disc. You can easily do by yourself with ImgBurn.

Well. It still not have audio and the disc had just some data on it that would not open in the DVD player but I looked at it on the computer and there was a media file that also would not open.
So I decided on another film and that also ended up as unreadable file on disc. At this point I looked the TS folder and it looked OK so I decided to burn it with Pinnacle Studio. End IT WORKED.
Here is the Log file and a screen shot of the end screen.
The end screen I find strange since I did set it to burn disc but it indicates otherwise also the Mix Video and Audio has red button on it.
What I learnd from this that AVI and MPEG4 works well. I used a Subtitle editor "Subtitle Creator" to adjust if needed and Save As as an .srt file. It seems that AVS is happier too work with this srt file for some reasson.

Thanks again and I think with this aquired knowledge I will be OK

    Regards

  14. But you have NOT selected 'Burn DVD' in your AVStoDVD project... how can you expect to have a playable disc? The disc will be empty or, if RW, it will contain the last recorded data.

Anyway, if you are happy to convert and author with AVStoDVD and burn the DVD folders with Pinnacle Studio, I'm happy too.
