Hi I'm pretty new here and I have a problem that's starting to become a real pain. I just bought a new HDTV, an Emerson 40' HDTV that supports 1080p, and I've been trying to setup my old xbox 360 (the one without an HDMI port) to it with a component cable. Thing is, I get sound but no picture. The switch on the cable is set to HDTV and I look at the component source on the tv itself but no picture. I plugged in everything correctly and still no picture. I don't know what is wrong. Please help me

Have you used the TV's component connections with anything else, such as a DVD player, to make sure they work with a different video source?

Try setting the xbox to 720p or 1080i. I believe it should work with 1080p over component but I don't know for sure.

You should be able to use the 1360x768 resolution (I use that on my set) but it might only be available over the vga cable (which is the cable I'm using with my xbox)

  4. I have to use my 360 with a component cable since all my other devices take up all the HDMI sockets on my TV, and I can confirm that 1080p does work over component.

Maybe the cable itself is a dud? Did it work with your old tv?

  5. Are you sure the HDTV supports 1080p component video? Just because it's a 1080p display doesn't mean it support 1080p component video. Switch to 1080i or 720p. Doesn't the xbox 360 need to be set to output component video?
