    Hi,

Ok ive been trying to find a way that I can capture my Xbox 360 footage on my TV to my PC for editing etc.

Now I have found a good way which shows you easily:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxnxpDel8WA&feature=related

But the only problem is that you have to play and record in almost Composite (Yellow). Now I dont mind recording in Composite etc, but I want to be able to play my games as normal on HD Component (Red, Green, Blue).

Does anyone know of a way we can do this?

Like is there a External USB device for component or something. Even a capture card that takes component but doesnt need to record in component just so we can view the games in the proper HD component.

If you look at that video, its the same as we want to do, but we want to be able to play in full component.

    Thanks in advance,

    Expensive territory.

If you want to watch HD and record SD there are boxes that down convert 720p or 1080i to 480i for recording.

If you demand HD 720p recording then follow the other link for issues around the Black Magic Intensity. 720p recording is an advanced topic and needs a high performance PC.

When I say play in HD I dont mean HDMI, I mean basically have it so we can sit and play on the Red,Green,Blue cable so we get good quality, and then just record that in whatever quality neccessary to the pc, I dont care if its low bit 400x300, just aslong as its good enough to see in youtube lol.

On the video tut above this is the setup:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Joel101/good1.jpg

Now we are happy with that but its just finding a way so rather than playing in the low quality on the tele, we can play in the full Red, Green, Blue quality so we dont loose any quality from the tv.

I dont mind about the quality on the other end of the monitor as its just to record some footage and make little videos with.

Looking at the picture, its basically something to replace the Dazzle Box(Red, White, Yellow) with something that can take Component (Red, Blue, Green), I think...

It all comes down to budget.

Component 480i will cost you ~$150 (e.g. AVS Pyro) plus a component distribution amp ~$60.

Component 720p will cost up upwards of $400 (Intensity Pro plus cables) plus a fast PC.

    Ok 2 things:

    1) What does the xbox play on at hd 480i or 720p?

    2) Can you link me to the AVS Pyro

And like I said it doesnt need to record in component, just watch/play on it (TV)

I dont see the component connectors on that m8, only the composite :S

Does that take Red Green Blue.

I mean I see it says:
an external box that connects to your computer via FireWire. With Composite, S-Video and Component connectors, capture video from any source.
Does anyone have pictures of this to see?

  9. I have one of these and it works very good: http://www.myhava.com/product_hava_platinum_hd.html

It allows you to play your 360 games on your tv in hi defintion while it streams the signal through your router allowing you to record your game play video on your computer.

I read all the posts in this article, but I'm still a little un-sure if the Pyro A/V Link will do what I want it to....

I have a PS3 and I play on my TV at 720p. I would LOVE to be able to capture video on my PC of the PS3 gameplay, and just as the original poster stated, I don't care if it is recorded in standard (low) definition.

I just want to be able to record at any resolution on my PC and still play on my TV in full 720p.

Does the ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link down-convert from a 720p component signal to standard def (what is it, 480i)?

I've sent in a support request to ADS Tech asking them the same question but have not received a response.

Here is a little diagram of how I'd have my stuff hooked up:

No. You would need to run the PS3 in 480i mode. The Pyro A/V Link does NOT accept 480p/720p/1080i. It only accepts 480i or 576i.

Thanks for the quick reply -- I posted too fast I guess, should have done some more reading.

I read a few other posts and it looks like the HAVA Platinum HD will do what I'm trying to....

I bought the HAVA and it works, and is relatively easy to install. It allows me to play in HD while recording in SD -- does the job for now.

However, when that hauppauge device comes out... it goes without saying that I'll be purchasing one.

S-Video to TV, composite NTSC to a capture card or visa versa.

Not much new other than the Hauppauge HD-PVR. It caps HD component to HD h.264 and has a loop to the HDTV for live play. Use search for "Hauppauge HD-PVR".
