Rip DVD to hard drive using a ripper like Smart Ripper or DVD Decrypter
Open the ifo file with FlaskMPEG and encode it with the Panasonic Encoder plug-in - subtitles can be selected.
Works like a charm. -
This is the procedure I follow: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/tmpg-main.htm. I followed this guide because I preferred using DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc, and I don't mind using VirtualDub. And it fits in nicely with Sefys classical newbie start DVD Ripping guide. It's probably not as simple as some of the other approaches, but I've found it very reliable.
