  1. Or MiniDV tapes as they are called. I run a video transfer service and received a request about this type of tape transfer and I was exactly sure I'm my camera supported this format. Can someone help me, if that camera wont do it what kind of camcorder would i need?

    would this be a good DV camcorder i could get?

    No it can't as it is a 13 year old analogue camcorder that uses 8mm tapes, you need a MiniDV one. Any Sony with DCR in place of CCD in it's name will do it.

    that samsung sucked as a cam but as long as the heads read the tape and the firewire port works you should be able to capture the DVavi off the tape.

    It'll play back MiniDV tapes and output them as DV-AVI over Firewire. It's also a lot better than a Samsung........
