  1. I was hoping someone could clarify and give me some info regarding certain audio types working on xbox 360. I used to think that no audio format containing 6 channel audio wold work on xbox 360 but i have some files that are. Can someone explain why some work? Is 6 channel audio different than 5.1 audio? And could someone tell me what 6 channel audio formats do not work on xbox?

What mediainfo is showing you is a 5.1 ch file, it's just calling the .1 channel a whole channel. Notice the "LFE".

Getting 5.1 (or 6 channel) audio on the Xbox 360 depends on how you use it.

If you are streaming from WMP or a similar kind of server, or if you are playing video from a USB device or a data disc, then your options for 5.1 audio are either AC3 in an AVI container or WMA Pro in a WMV container.

If you set up your Xbox as a Windows Media Center Extender with Windows 7 (and maybe even 8), then you have more options. avc/ac3 .M2TS and mpeg2/ac3 .MPG files seem to work OK, and I suspect that even avc/aac 5.1 .MP4/MOV files might work, though I haven't tested any.

  4. ok so as cornucopia was saying, if i see a 6 channel file with LFE in the mediainfo will it also work on the xbox (via vuze thats what i am using) even if its AAC as well or only AC3 via USB or vuze??

Not sure if vuze gives the same flexibility as Windows Media Center, as you were saying some avc/ac3 etc. seem to play via streaming to xbox. Maybe Vuze will do the same? Its very flexible
