burning dvd-r with different programs

I am using the same Ridata DVD-R discs on the same laptop to burn data.
I notice with Nero 9, they always pop out the disc and is unable to burn it.
But with IMGBurn, I have no issues.

Is it the program? Its obviously not the disc or the drive.

With almost 9 years of being here and over 700 posts, I'm surprised to even read your post. You know very well how we feel about burning with Nero and using low quality media like Ridata.

There's an old joke where a guy says
Man: Doc, it hurts every time I touch it. What should I do?
Doc: Stop touching it!

Why are we even having to discuss you using Nero at all?

But to give you an answer, Nero sometimes lacks a write strategy for low quality media. If you must use Nero then you need to update to the latest version AND update your firmware. Without going into all the technical reasons, the fact that ImgBurn does not require you to do that should be all the reason any rational person would need to use ImgBurn. You know better than to do what you did and to buy what you bought, so I'm done here, but there's your reason.

Imgburn = the program used by people that know what they're doing.
Nero = for the suckers that don't know.

Nero quit being useful back with version 6. I still have v6 on one computer, because I use it for data burning with an older drive. The chronic issues with Nero, even back to v5 and v6, was the erratic buffer, which did cause more coasters.

Laptop drives are also finicky.

Stick to Imgburn.
