Well I saw it yesterday.
I liked it.
It was on par with the other recent comic movies. It was in the same vein as Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. I will admit I haven't seen Iron Man 2 but I own the first one on dvd and I thought Robert Downy JR did a good job in this.
One thing I noticed was they had these giant creatures flying through the city and they felt like a bit of a rip off of Transformers 3 from last year. They reminded me quite a bit of the wormy thing Shockwave rode on and used to tear through buildings. They even had a silver glass building tip over but it wasn't a centerpiece action shot like the one in TF3 so I'll let that go as a passing coincedence.
All in all it was a typical summer blockbuster. It wasn't the best movie ever in my opinion but it was fun and worth watching.
How about you? Have you seen it yet? Do you plan to see it?
I did find it interesting it wasn't released in the US first. That doesn't happen too often with these types of blockbuster movies.

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Yep, worth watching but far from any 8.8 as it has now on IMDB. I prefer separate movies with iron man and hulk.
Will Ruffalo now start in a new hulk reboot? -

As the British say, Master Yoda, he "having you on". John Steed and Emma Peel were a pair of super spies call the Avengers. Man, she could kick really really, high!

Oh guess i didn't read the link carefully enough
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
No, you just weren't around back then to know Emma Peel
As for the comic book Avengers, I liked it. 3D effects were done pretty good (mostly for depth perception, not in your face crap) Over all it was worth watching. I might even go see it again on the big screen. That would only be 2nd time. The first being the original Star Wars movie
What I don't see people mentioning is after the main movie ends, you had to stay for a little bit long to watch who is really behind the invasion.
spoiler
Red Skull was shown very briefly right before the credits started to roll -
Actually that was Thanos

I have not seen it yet but i can't wait until it comes out on Bluray!!
And how do you have the first Iron Man and have not seen the second one ?!?!?
The second one ROCKS!!!!!!!
In the TV series "The Avengers"
LOL!!!
Kind of like the old "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."
"The Prisoner"
Did anyone see the episode where Al and Jefferson tried to order the VHS of The Avengers with a young emma peel & they ended up getting one with an old emma peel, LOL!!!
I don't want to read any spoilers but if they did not include The Vision I will be P!$$ED!!!

There I said it.
I like the action movies but I don't go out of my way for all things marvel or dc. I do have all the xmen movies on dvd or bluray. I do have both of the newer batman chris nolan movies. I do have Mystery Men on dvd, I do have TMNT.
I just didn't see a need to go into it. If ironman 2 gets on fx or amc or something I'm sure I'll record it and watch it sometime.
Oh and I don't have either HULK movies either though I did just record the most recent HULK, the one with Liv Tyler in it.
I don't own Thor nor Captain America but I did like both movies. In fact I just finished watching Captain America again (checked it out of the library). Very good movie and well done too.
One that I really like that was kind off the beaten path was Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. It was fun with the alternate reality angle.
Edit - I admit defeat on the avengers tv prank.... enough alreadyDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

Well I am not a big comic book buff/reader either, the last comics i read were the original SPAWN comics, like the first year or less, and that was after watching the animated series on dvd from HBO.
Before that, at this point in time it has probably been 35+ years!!
LOL!!
I am not a fan of nor do I follow any specific (?) brand, DC, Marvel, etc.
I have not watched "Thor" or "Captain America" (not the new one, but i do own the original Cpt. America on LD from way back in the day)
And i own all the X-Men on Bluray as they did do a good job on them, some better than other's but....
Iron Man 1 kicked @$$ enough that on that merit alone, it's enough to at least watch the 2nd one, rent, borrow, steal, what have you.....
LOL!!
Comics really have nothing to do with it, it was a good movie on it's own, and I think the 2nd one was even better than the 1st.
Go spend a couple of $$ and rent it.
After all, you eventually came around to the new Nolan Batman movies

Yes he was blue in the comics but judging by outfit, size, and large rocky chin Im pretty sure he's Thanos
Thanos was also after the tesseract

Just in case anybody didn't already know the bluray/dvd release will be on: (drum roll please)
September 25, 2012.
I'm sure those who are really into it already know. But just thought I'd toss it out there if you didn't.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Bump.
Well its out now. Anybody picked it up yet?
I'm debating about buying it. I'll probably go cheap and just buy the dvd not the bluray. I'm kind of just buying movies I really like on bluray and others I'm not so in love with on dvd to save a buck or two (well sometimes more than that).
If I hold off longer I may just rent it on vudu and watch it through my ps3. I still might buy it.
However my for sure buy will be Dark Knight Rises on bluray to complete another Trilogy on bluray (already have the Matrix and the Transformers movies on bluray, I have all the Star Trek movies on blurays but 11 movies isn't a trilogy now is it?). I have xmen 3 on bluray but 1 and 2 on dvd. FYI I don't have either Star Wars, Jurassic Park nor Indiana Jones on bluray yet (Indy was just out the other week for those not in the know). Plus I have back to the future on dvd but I don't watch it enough to justify buying the blurays.
Edit - plus i have the LOTR ee dvds and I'd like to get the ees on bluray but thats a bit pricey and I think the dvds are good enough quality for me. Once the prices drop in a while (a few years?) then I'll pick em up.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I want it just to see the very last scene. Red Skull or Thanos
-
I finally got around to renting it - ok I know it hasn't even been a week but I was meaning to do it pretty soon.
I rented it on vudu on my ps3. Very nice.
Of course there was stuff I forgot seeing as I only saw it once in the theater. It was very bombastic. I think I'll end up buying it sometime but not for awhile. I still have a few backlogged movies and net stuff to watch (quite a few net stuff that I have to get to).
Anyway definitely worth it.
Oh and at the end of the credits I was surprised to see it say 7.1 in the company logo list at the tail end of the credits. I didn't know they needed to boast about that.
One other thing I'll have to check out imdb about - was it a 1.85:1 movie? Thats the way vudu presented. I would have sworn it was a 2.35:1 movie - or 2.4:1 like some of the other more dramatic movies.
Edit - what a surprise it really was 1.85:1:
