I'm afraid you'll have to read the manual more closely. It is also quite possible that Samsung in all its wisdom has decided only music and pictures are allowed to be stored on it. That would be a shame but not impossible. Its their unit they can decide what can and can't be copied to it.

However I suspect it might be a file format issue. Dig around the manual and it will probably tell you what you can and can't transfer. Chances are its relatively strict. It might not see any video file to transfer if, for example, it isn't a h264 video in a mp4 file. That is just an example. It most likely has to meet its strict requirements before any video can transfer to it. It won't be a computer where you can just dump any file to it. Also even if you could force a file to it it doesn't mean it will play if it isn't in the specs for the samsung player.

In all honesty you might be better off with a wdtv media player or one of its competitors. They can read virutally any file type and codec off ntfs harddrives. The newer Live models also have internet access for streaming video and I believe the hub model can access a home network.

Otherwise you'll most likely have to reconvert your videos to the samsungs specifications. And that will mean time and some quality loss in the conversion process.

Another option is you could transcode them and stream the files from your computer with tversity or playon. Wired is better than wireless especially for hd videos.

Edit - also it might be this player can't or won't transfer or see files larger than 4gb. That is a fat32 file limit. Even if its a ntfs drive inside it might "lock out" 4gb files. This is just a guess but possible. Again you'll have to dive into your manual more closely to see the particulars of the media transfer process. Also use mediainfo to identify the codecs in the video files that you wish to transfer to make sure they are compatible.

    - again assuming you can actually transfer movies to the player - it might just be a music/picture storage unit and they don't want you playing videos off the internal harddrive.

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
