I recently burned a DVD video with Video Studio Pro X5, and encountered a very brief, but audible "popping" sound in the audio track (the video plays just fine)...
The video footage was originally shot in FlipVideo MPEG-4 and converted with TEnCoder, so I could import it OK into VS Pro X5...here are the output parameters for that footage converted by TEncoder:
Video:
Codec Xvid
Bitrate 2000
Common Sizes 640:480
FPS 30
Aspect Ratio 4/3
Audio:
Codec MP3
Bitrate 128 Kbps
Channels 2
Srate 44100
Container AVI
Encoder Mencoder
VS Pro X5 DVD Burning Output:
NTSC drop frame 29.97 fps
MPEG 24 bits / 720 x 480
Upper Field first
[DVD-NTSC] 16:9
Video Data rate Variable [Max 8000 Kbps]
LPCM Audio 40000 Hz Stereo
Does this data give any clue as to the "popping" sound in the audio track?

Was there "popping" from the tencoder export before importing ? or at the timeline preview stage ?
Did you export an ISO or did you burn directly from Video Studio Pro ?
Did you apply any audio effects ?, normalization , that sort of thing ?
As an aside I wouldn't use MP3 as an intermediate for import, I would have used uncompressed audio (since that's what you're using for the DVD anyway) . 128Kbps MP3 is just losing quality for no good reason . At least use a higher bitrate (but even better use uncompressed audio) . Same goes with xvid for video -
Better for quality, but probably won't help the "popping" you're hearing
If you export another file format from the timeline, like xvid/mp3 can you hear "popping" as well ?
Does the program allow you to export a DVD ISO or authored video files? That way you can test with something like VLC or other software to narrow down the problem -
Haven't exported another file format from the Timeline yet, will give it a try...
Yes, VS Pro X5 lets you export a DVD ISO....
