I have some football games that I would like to edit to create Play-by-Play film, meaning that I want to cut out refs blabbing, time outs, etc. I've tried SolveigMM AVI Trimme and VirtualDub, but these seem to be taking too long, as I basically have to watch the game, place flags where I want to edit, delete, then continue to watch the game.
Is there a fast solution that might include frame previews so i can just select and delete, rather than watching the whole game?
Also, I don't mind paying a reasonable amount (< $500) for software.
Thanks!

Hello,
I have developed a program that does exactly what your looking for, it's called GameVision. High school football coaches use it to cut up their game film to eliminate unwanted footage and to index their game video. The standard version of the program costs $2000. I also have a scaled back version that we sell for $450. You can check out our website at www.gamevision.us to take a look if you want. If you would, let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Tim -
Uhhmm, @bbills, you might want to consider updating your site, nomenclature, compatibility and price structure from c.1998!

Nice shootin', Tex! ... erm, that's always embarrassing
Well, on the flip side, some of the older technologies are still adequate. The iPhone/Pad hasn't changed much in several years, but the price keeps going up.Last edited by budwzr; 7th Aug 2012 at 23:30.

Well, if you understand economics, a constant price over several years is exactly what Apple wants. Meanwhile, all other manner of Android devices continue price cuts with new features and hardware.
For the clueless: "Apple doesn't pass down any efficiency savings to consumers".
I'm not even going to mention Apple's big lawsuit. Apple is really haughty.
-
Apparently your understanding of economics is somewhat lacking in this regard. The demand for iPads is still smoking all competitors. Or, as we learned in ECON 101, high demand = high price. The only way the other tablet makers have finally been able to raise their demand above the rim of the toilet, is to compete at a lower price point.
-
Actually, it's the lack of "features", like iTunes, that makes Android compelling. And Android updates are actual updates! Not security hole fixes and trying to block everyone from doing what they want with their hardware.
Steve Jobs may have been a brilliant computer builder, but after the Microsoft adoption of a "color GUI" standard, and now he's saying that Google stole his iOS.
Steve-O went off the deep end with rage at that point. He didn't learn a thing from it either. Apparently.
Apple is now in a "Gordian Knot". With Samsung and Google as the other knot holders.Last edited by budwzr; 9th Aug 2012 at 14:16.

Again, simple economics (and marketing). If buyers do not like a product or its features, they will not buy it. Apparently, lots and lots of buyers like what the iPad offers. I wanted a tablet with lots of ports etc. to play with, so I bought an Android.
I sure hope this discussion is helping the OP solve his editing problem. If not, the Mod. is probably going to give us the boot pretty soon. -
When ruthless leaders depart, all that's left are mindless droobs. Hahaha, I wouldn't invest in iPad 5 at this point. I think this whole Samsung lawsuit is maneuvering about a golden parachute for top Apple manager's.
I think they finally see the writing on the wall, and they're looking for an exit strategy.
OK, let's quit before they run us off.Last edited by budwzr; 9th Aug 2012 at 15:02.

I wouldn't count Tim Cook out for even a second. He is as much responsible for Apples success as Steve Jobs was. Maybe even more. Numerous industry sources have stated that Apples current management team is one of the most capable in the business. What remains to seen is if Apple can still generate the product vision that Jobs was so good at. Also a concern mentioned, is who at Apple can now prevent a "bad" product from going forward. Again, part of the vision thing. Even if Apple does have some screwups, with almost $120 billion in the bank, they could weather anything other than a total meltdown for quit a while. Also, with the value of Tim Cooks 10 year, 1 million share retention bonus at stake, you know he is not going to put up with any mediocrity.
-
If Cook were any good, Jobs would have left and stayed gone, to let Apple carry on in hopes of future prosperity. Like a bird leaving the nest.
"Numerous industry sources" depend on Apple. So what they say is beans.
The bottom line is the FCP screwup opened a lot of people's eyes, that Apple CAN commit to something and then drop it later. That's the death knell. You don't switch gears in midstream, lest you lose momentum or even capsize.
The H'Wood oldtimers and independents got stuck with a lot of fancy gear, and they're still paying on it. Apple certainly knows a thing or two about seamless integration, in fact, that's their shtick.
As a business model, it makes sense to make proprietary tech for non-tech people. Non-tech people purchase based on bling and styling. They don't know what they're missing.
Example: Not ONE Apple user thinks that Apple went to an Intel chip for any other reason than to lure Windows users. When actually it was an attempt to silence the growing grumblings. The same grumblings that birthed FCPX.
I don't know what a lawsuit is going to do to their morale. Lawsuits are bad for business and will tarnish both companies going forward, and possibly create an East vs. West kerfuffle. Fighting so vigorously is a sign that they're fighting for their survival, and that means there's nothing in the pipeline except more cloud stuff.
My feelings are that Apple is going to use the cloud as a way to tie up user's data and create their own version of Google or America Online, hahaha. If they can villianize Google in the media, and just get a chink into Google's armor, they might be able to pull a curtain around their users and charge the rest of the world a pay-to-play fee.
Which is basically what they do now. So no departure from Standard Business Practices. The only obstacle is a grand awakening.Last edited by budwzr; 9th Aug 2012 at 16:25.

It could turn out to be that. No one knows until some kind of market share numbers are posted. Even if it didn't pan out, the monetary value to apple wouldn't be large enough show up in the financial statements. I agree with the idea someone put forth a while back, that the only reason Apple is in the video app. business is to sell hardware. Year over year MAC sales have been setting records for Apple for quite a while. If FCP can't contribute, I'm sure Apple will have no problem writing it off and then move forward just as they did with their XServe line a while back. Just in case you want to rag on MAC sales, I bet their are a lot of PC manufacturers out there that would be overjoyed to be doing ~$22 billion/yr in PC sales.

To be honest, I realize a lot of artists just want to do their art, and in this arena Apple is a great fit. Both parties get what they bargained for.
And our seniors don't have time to spend getting up to speed. They need something big button, big screen, super easy and fun.
There's certainly a place for Apple in the world. -
I was watching the Curiosity rover landing webcast from JPL the other night. I observed that almost every one who had a laptop in the control room, had a MacBook Pro. I did see a couple of dark colored laptops about, but I would guestimate about 90% of them were Macs. Why in the world would rocket scientists want a Mac? I don't think any one who could develop and build somthing as complex as Curiosity would be worried about ease of use. Maybe this could help with the dilema.
Read the Introduction. It's only a couple of paragraphs long (don't worry, it won't burn your eyes).

Why would King Faruk have a Mac? They use the Macs to collaborate via intrAnet, not to make science experiments, hahaha. Funny!
